“Call me Caitlyn” – Bruce Jenner comes out as a woman on the cover of Vanity Fair

Bruce Jenner’s transition is finally public on the cover of Vanity Fair today. The first pictures of Caitlyn were shot by Annie Leibovitz at his Malibu home. “If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life,'” Jenner, 65, tells Vanity Fair. In a behind the scenes video from the shoot, Caitlyn says she is finally free: The transgender Olympic champion, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, reveals her true self in a photo shoot by Annie Leibovitz and interview …

Battling breast cancer with one pink tutu

Another “warm and fuzzy” viral project that I’m just in love with. Photographer Bob Carey tries to amuse his wife, who’s battling cancer, by taking pictures of himself wearing nothing but a pink tutu around the world! This hairy man in a pink tutu is a sweet teddy bear wanting to cheer up his wife during the most difficult time of her life…facing the possibility of dying. “My fine art photography has always been about transformation and [I] had an idea to begin a series of me in the tutu,” says Carey. Carey is taking pre-orders for a self published …

“2-D or not 2-D” Stunning Optical Illusions

2-D or not 2-D? Moscow-based photographer Alexander Khokhlov and makeup artist Valeriya Kutsan have created a genius series of portraits that will leave you asking: Are they 2-D or 3-D? The models’ faces are amazingly transformed from three dimensional paintings and designs using face paint. “Valeriya used different techniques of face painting so you can see a lot of variations – from sketch and graphic arts to water-colour and oil-paintings. This is a combination of interesting make-ups, studio photography experiments and careful retouching.” Says Khokhlov. I really get excited when I come across this kind of creative spirit – people …

Real men vs. underwear models We hear it all the time… “Real women” don’t look like the skinny beauties that grace the catwalk.” “Women can’t live up to those idealized standards” “We should have more “normal looking women” in the pages of hi-gloss fashion magazines.” “I’ll never look like the women with beautiful bodies in the glossy magazines” But what about us men? Do “real men” look like the sexy male models on the catwalk, or better yet… Underwear ads? It can be easy to forget that men are often under the same kind of standards. In this photo series …

The eerie phenomenon of Across The Ravaged Land

October is Halloween’s month, a month when we start seeing decorations of witches, pumpkins, bats and mummies. In that spirit, I came across a stunning yet haunting Photographer’s work that looks like is straight out of a horror film. Across The Ravaged Land by Nick Brandt, Brandt’s striking and sublime “DARK” images are taken near a still body of water in Tanzania with a deadly secret—it turns any animal it touches to stone. The images of calcified creatures pepper the area around the lake due to its constant pH of 9 to 10.5—an extremely basic alkalinity that preserves these creatures …
