Think About It

Singer Boggie Photoshopped in Music Video PARFÜM

BOGGIE : PARFÜM Hungarian singer Boggie uses her music video to show us just how much effort media puts into making an artist “look the part”. As the singer preforms, the video editor is retouching and changing everything from her hair, facial features, skin color, lighting, and an eye is copied and flipped to cover the other. By the end of the video Boogie looks entirely like a different person. While the program used in the video may not exist, the message about how Photoshop obscures our perception of reality and beauty is still the same. We already know by now …

Taking Risks and Entrepreneurship – Interview with Seth Godin

Is 2014 the year that you take risks? Is it the year that you go for your goals- with the approach of the cost of failing is greater than discovering what works or what doesn’t? I love this interview with American author, entrepreneur, marketer, and public speaker, Seth Godin, where he discusses trying out new ideas, taking risks and entrepreneurship. Is the year where you go for it without being afraid of failing, or worse yet being afraid of what other people would say if you do fail. One of the things I like the most about this interview is …

Battling breast cancer with one pink tutu

Another “warm and fuzzy” viral project that I’m just in love with. Photographer Bob Carey tries to amuse his wife, who’s battling cancer, by taking pictures of himself wearing nothing but a pink tutu around the world! This hairy man in a pink tutu is a sweet teddy bear wanting to cheer up his wife during the most difficult time of her life…facing the possibility of dying. “My fine art photography has always been about transformation and [I] had an idea to begin a series of me in the tutu,” says Carey. Carey is taking pre-orders for a self published …

Canadian Airline delivers a Holiday Miracle

I love these kinds of gestures. The element of surprise – discovering something when you least expect it – is one of my all time favorites. Watch this Holiday video from Canadian airline WestJet, and how they pulled off the greatest act of holiday cheer ever! I think that was just the nicest thing I have seen a large company do for their patrons. Stunt or not….it brought happiness into the lives of so many. So awesome that it’s hard not to tear up. What do you think of the video? Would love to hear your comments. Happy Holidays!

“2-D or not 2-D” Stunning Optical Illusions

2-D or not 2-D? Moscow-based photographer Alexander Khokhlov and makeup artist Valeriya Kutsan have created a genius series of portraits that will leave you asking: Are they 2-D or 3-D? The models’ faces are amazingly transformed from three dimensional paintings and designs using face paint. “Valeriya used different techniques of face painting so you can see a lot of variations – from sketch and graphic arts to water-colour and oil-paintings. This is a combination of interesting make-ups, studio photography experiments and careful retouching.” Says Khokhlov. I really get excited when I come across this kind of creative spirit – people …

Gratitude is the best Attitude

Gratitude is the best Attitude Is it just me — or is this year going by really, really, REALLY FAST? I can hardly believe there are only few more weeks left until 2014. Almost time to start setting new goals and strategic planning for the New Year. Before we do that, I think this is the perfect opportunity to carve out some time to be grateful for what we have accomplished. Even if you didn’t quite hit your destination, still you are not where you were at the beginning of this year. Be grateful, reflect on what you did accomplish, …

Illustrator collaborates with her 4-year old daughter

“I wish I could have an assistant to help me finish this project!” Or “I wish I had another set of hands!” Those are two familiar sentences that I say at least once a day. But because my style of illustration I have to do it all myself. Yesterday I stumbled upon a story of an artist that decided to embrace a little help with great results. Source: Illustrator, graphic artist, and mom, Mica Angela Hendricks, gave in to her daughter’s plea of wanting to share her mother’s sketchbook. After starting a few pieces, she let her daughter add …

Real men vs Underwear models

Real men vs. underwear models We hear it all the time… “Real women” don’t look like the skinny beauties that grace the catwalk.” “Women can’t live up to those idealized standards” “We should have more “normal looking women” in the pages of hi-gloss fashion magazines.” “I’ll never look like the women with beautiful bodies in the glossy magazines” But what about us men? Do “real men” look like the sexy male models on the catwalk, or better yet… Underwear ads? It can be easy to forget that men are often under the same kind of standards. In this photo series …

Procrastination – Stop Putting Life Off – Part V – Eliminate Distractions

Distractions are probably the most common thing that keeps us in procrastination mode. In order to get things done, we have to focus! Facebook, Twitter, or any kind of social media, television, your kids, all can be major sources of distraction. Social media is important but we don’t have to be consumed by it when we’re getting into “making things happen” mode. Distractions are like energy vampires that suck away your focus. When you eliminate these distractions things start falling into place! Here are some ideas I’ve found to eliminate distractions and really focus on a task: Be mindful of …

Touching Homeless Veteran Time-lapse Transformation

I wanted to share this incredible transformation in honor of Veteran’s Day. U.S. Army veteran Jim Wolf has struggled with poverty, homelessness, and alcoholism for many years, in September he decided to undergo a Physical transformation for Degage ministries, a charity that aims to help veterans who have fallen on hard times. The result will leave you speechless! Jim is almost unrecognizable at the end after receiving a haircut, beard trim, and new clothes. He is now scheduled to have his own housing and is attending alcoholics anonymous meetings for the first time ever. “The makeover, which included a haircut, …
