Girls, Pearls, Hats & Heels – reflections on a glam event

2015 is almost gone….Wow how is it November already.

Such a year full of great moments and memories that made a lasting impact to the rest of my life.

One of those transforming events happened in October, when I was invited to design and participate in the 4th annual “Girls, Pearls, Hats & Heels” a signature two-day event in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

benefiting The Delray Beach Public Library and Bethesda Hospital Foundation.

The Marrero Collection designed 2 limited-edition glamorous silk scarves for this event.

One that was gifted as to Pay tribute to loved ones, friends, and family that have experienced breast cancer who attended the event

The other was sold to those in attendance to help acquire further financial support for the cause.

Nilsa McKinney & Honorary Chairperson Karen Rogers took this fabulous event to the next level, and I thank them for inviting me to this unforgettable soiree.

I was so inspired the dedication and support as demonstrated by those involved, that I decided to add my artistic contribution by stepping away from my usual digital brushes, and picking up my watercolor brushes in order to create a one of a kind, framed painted illustration for the silent auction.

The ultimate highlight and privilege for me was meeting and hearing the stories of bravery from the courageous survivors as I was signing each of the scarves.  Having them share their strength, and conviction in being the strong, beautiful women that they are, moved me, and it was an honor to have shared such a moment with them as upon finishing signing their scarves, a testament to my gratitude for the honor to be amid such amazing women.

Special thanks to my friend Nancy Reagan from Mi Bella Reina that introduced me to the ladies!

Words can’t explain the variety of emotions I experienced during the 2 day event.

Thank You from The Marrero Collection
