My Illustration of Cher, Who Just Released Her Cover Of ABBA’s ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!’ (Listen)

Most of you know that I am a huge CHER fan. I thought she was fabulous in Mamma Mia – Here We Go Again! It’s been a while since I have done an illustration of a celebrity, so why not take a little time off from all of my projects and draw. Why?  Just because! I took some screenshots of a couple of my drawings during the process (which I hardly ever do). First I started drawing her face (since is the most difficult and time-consuming part). Lets face it…once you get the face down the rest flows beautifully. After that, …

First for Women magazine features my hair and beauty illustrations

I graduated from the Art Institute in Chicago where I studied fashion and beauty illustration. My work has been featured in an array of magazines – VOGUE, In Style, Glamour, and more. However, with the birth of the internet the market for illustrations took a dive – magazines went under, publishing went online, and a lot of illustration work just vanished. Art directors could now buy “stock art “ for a fraction of what we were getting paid. So I had to adapt, and eventually I came up with another outlet for my skills: The Marrero Collection. But in the …

T-shirts that will elevate your look / Marrero Collection

I am so excited to introduce my new line of all-over print T-shirts, a capsule collection line inspired by some of the shows from Paris, Milan, and New York that is perfect for this summer! Designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Moschino and others showcased runway looks full of word prints, flowers and cartoons… and I love them! A lot of designers we’re also showing similar looks for male and female on the same catwalk, so I decided to do that as well. My line has a little bit for everyone, from bright colors, to a cool black and white …

Help me pick the first Fall 2018 design – Color way Mandala

I’m working on the 2018 Marrero Collection prints for the Fall scarves, the Pantone forecast colors are just breath-taking. Something different for the usual Fall oranges and browns. Don’t you think?   As you Probably know by now I love Mandalas because of their spiritual meaning.   The word Mandala (pronunciation mon- dah- lah) means “circle”.  A Mandala represents wholeness, a cosmic diagram reminding us of our relation to infinity, extending beyond and within our bodies and minds. Mandalas are circular designs symbolizing the notion that life is never ending. Many mandalas have spiritual significance to an individual or group of individuals. The Hindus …

Marrero Collection fashionista scarf featured in Downtown magazine

Having your product featured in a major magazine is one of the coolest thing about having a fashion accessory line. Downtown Magazine is the quintessential lifestyle magazine capturing the heartbeat and attitude of this lavishly diverse community. As the first glossy publication to focus primarily on this area of New York City, Downtown Magazine provides smart, stylish coverage of all that lower Manhattan has to offer. I was asked to be a contributor for the specific issue and picked some fabulous products for the readers, so I thought the perfect scarf for this demographic would be the fashionista scarf with all …

Designing a new Marrero Collection and loving every minute of it, specially when you get gorgeous colors from Pantone! Carlos’ favorite thing for 2015 – “Shireen’s Favorite Things”

CarlosFavorite-Blog

2015 was a great year! My Marrero Collection line was featured in many publications and TV spots. I met a lot of interesting and exciting people. One of my favorite TV appearances was definitely the segment on Channel 7’s Deco Drive “Shireen’s Favorite Things”. I remember getting the call from Shireen while I was doing my meditation walk. I was shocked to get the call to be featured on a entertainment show that I have watched for many years. I was very nervious at first on the day of the shoot, but Shireen made the experience a dream come true. Isn’t it …

Heidi Klum as Jessica Rabbit 4 Halloween (her transformation video)

Heidi-Klum-Jessica-Rabbit

As a fashion illustrator, Jessica Rabbit was/is a huge inspiration on my work. Her proportions and the “Bob Mackie-Like” gown on the animated diva were sensational. As a Fashion designer, Project Runway is another big influence, to this day one of my favorite shows. So magic happens when you marry the two, Heidi Klum (wearing a dress made by Project Runway’s Christian Siriano) & the iconic Jessica Rabbit. Hands down and amazing, incredible transformation. I nominate Klum “Drag Race Royalty” for her Lip-Syncing. What do you think of the transformation?
